ALICE is a hybrid of my life. Interior Design meets the world of Immersion Art. In my industry so much waste is created in the name of “remodeling” or “redecorating”… I’ve often wondered how to use scrap material & found objects from the Interiors world in unique & interesting ways. This project was the perfect challenge to do just that! At first glance, ALICE is a delight to the senses; colorful & off-kilter. But a closer look brings about more surprises. The Reading Tree is made up of woven fabric scraps, old books, clocks & wooden plates. The Queens Roses are created by red folded fabric- leftovers from design clients. The Giant Teapot is assembled by old paneling, an antique picture frame and a trash can for the spout! The Mushroom Lair was crafted using chicken wire and large pieces of designer fabric. And the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party comes to life through old china, used silver serving pieces and a display cake.
The painted backdrops set the stage for this surreal scene. The shimmering purple forest, black & white wave wall & the Rabbit’s key hole were all plans to bring ALICE to life… this truly is a designer’s rendition of WONDERLAND!
